About the role
VincentCare Victoria is seeking an appropriately-qualified person to take on the position of AOD Client Intake and Brief Intervention Worker who has demonstrated experience supporting adults and families with alcohol and other drugs (AOD) concerns.
You will support client pathways into Quin House and RLAD by coordinating referrals into Quin House and RLAD. You will be responsible for coordinating the Quin House waitlist and completing the associated administration, working closely with leadership on bed occupancy and the waitlist, undertaking intake and assessments with clients wanting to enter Quin House, liaising with referring agencies/workers and the clients, co-facilitating Quin House information sessions, and support work with Quin and RLAD clients.
You will work from evidence based, integrated and client centred approaches to provide tailored support through evidence-based frameworks. Your aim is to support and encourage people to identify their own self efficacy and achieve sustainable change, taking independent control of their recovery journey.
You are an appropriately qualified professional with experience in providing comprehensive AOD assessments and support, managing residential waitlists, and applying relevant therapeutic frameworks to assist clients to achieve positive and lasting outcomes.
You have an understanding of health and other treatment services relevant to the client group and work positively to appropriately manage challenging behaviours. You understand the importance of interacting and mediating in ways that respect the equality, diversity, choices, rights, safety and responsibilities of individuals throughout the process whilst also maintaining strong professional boundaries.
You have experience in maintaining constructive, empathetic, supportive and respectful working relationships particularly across primary health, mental health, AOD treatment services and other significant community services for an integrated service response.
Your experience and knowledge also extends to:
- Effectively engaging with people experiencing complex issues
- An ability to manage critical incidents, identify and act upon immediate risk of danger to self and others in both outreach and service based capacities.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in liaising with other community service organisations for the development of on-going relationships and referral protocols beneficial to client support
