Counsellor Educator – ADAPT Cyrenian House

About the role

Would you like the opportunity to work in a role where you can make a meaningful impact on people’s lives? The Allied Drug and Alcohol Programs and Treatment (ADAPT) is a partnership between Cyrenian House and Holyoake and delivers AOD treatment services across the public metropolitan prisons in Western Australia. 

We are seeking an experienced Counsellor/Educators to join our ADAPT team, delivering AOD group treatment programs to consumers involved in the criminal justice system. You will provide culturally secure, AOD treatment to consumers impacted by AOD use and make a positive and meaningful difference to their lives. 

As a Counsellor Educator working for Cyrenian House you will be provided with excellent clinical training and supervision. In addition, you will be provided with opportunities to diversify your experience and skills by being exposed to a range of Cyrenian House’s many treatment services, including residential Therapeutic Communities and outpatient settings. 

The position is full-time working 76 hours per fortnight. (part-time hours will be considered)

Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs. 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or equivalent experience in the alcohol and drug sector.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drug issues.
  • Understanding of comorbidity in relation to alcohol and drug issues.
  • Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills.
  • Good presentation and group facilitation skills.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in working with consumers from diverse backgrounds and different cultural groups.
  • Demonstrated and well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software package including Word and Outlook.
  • Full Work Rights and a current National Police certificate. 
  • Department of Justice security clearances (employer initiated)
  • Current WA Drivers licence and a reliable vehicle.
  • Full COVID Vaccination.
