We are a thriving, independent school set on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW with over 280 students from Early Kindergarten to Year 10. The Counsellor/Psychologist is responsible for providing social and emotional support to students. We are looking for a qualified individual who is seeking to have an impact in the lives of young people and support their wellbeing.
This is a part time role, approximately 14 hours over 3 days.
Responsibilities include:
- Working closely with and/or as part of the school wellbeing team to deliver student wellbeing services
- Providing students, their families and staff with support and/ or appropriate referrals in difficult situations such as during times of grief or when students are facing personal challenges
- Organising one-on-one or group sessions with students, parents, and teachers
- Attending Parent- Teacher meetings to provide information about the wellbeing support service as requested
- Maintaining relevant professional records and email communication
- Communicating with support services
- Providing reports to Principal/Deputy Principal/High School Coordinator
Key Selection Criteria:
- Formal qualifications in counselling/ psychology
- A demonstrated understanding of the challenges and practicalities involved in providing wellbeing support within a school community
- An informed and evidence-based understanding of youth/child development and related wellbeing issues
- A demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and independently
- A high standard of written and verbal communication skills
- Positive and reliable work ethic
