Counsellor

Part time, Permanent, 2 days a week – Wednesday and Thursday (15 hours).

Relationships Australia WA is a leading provider of relationship support services to the West Australian community with professional and highly motivated staff.

About the role

We are offering a permanent role of Counsellor in the headspace Bunbury team. The role of the Counsellor is to provide therapeutic support to young people aged 12 – 25 years and their parents/families either in individual sessions or in groups at headspace Bunbury. This will include conducting psychosocial assessments and being able to support the young person in connecting them with other appropriate services at headspace or partner youth and health services. 

The current vacancy is for 15 hours, 2 days per week.

Skills, experience, and qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology and/or Social Sciences 
  • Experience in working with young people affected by mental health issues
  • Knowledge and skills in working with people in crisis and in managing people with complex presentations
  • Experience in individual counselling as well as family counselling 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, respectful, and inclusive way with other team/staff members
  • Proven experience in working with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication.
  • Proven ability to adhere to clinical and ethical work standards.
