The position of MERIT Counsellor exists within the Drug and Alcohol Service of the Central Coast Local Health District.

What you’ll be doing
The Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) program is a special Magistrates program that provides opportunity for defendants with drug problems to participate in treatment, on a voluntary basis, whilst on bail.

The primary role of the position is to provide assessments, clinical treatments,  counselling, case management and education for clients with problematic or  harmful illicit drug use and related disorders.
Clinical work is conducted primarily in Wyong, Gosford and Woy Woy Courts and at  health centres across the Central Coast.
This role is suitable for the following:

  • Social Worker Lvl 1
  • Social Worker Lvl 2
  • Registered Nurse
  • Psychologist
  • Snr Psychologist
  • Clinical Psychologist
