About The Role
Uniting Communities’ Therapeutic Counselling Services has been providing affordable counselling services to South Australian individuals and families for more than 40 years. We work with people facing a broad range of concerns in their lives and relationships that, includes a specialised focus on working with men and women around family violence.
Based at U-City, the role is part-time (3 days per week) for a fixed-term of 6 months. The Duty counsellor is primarily a phone based role and responsible for the following:
- Provide an initial brief counselling session and complete an intake assessment for new customers.
- Ensure all customer communication conducted is aligned with trauma informed principles and UC customer service guidelines.
- Respond to email enquiries and referrals.
- Schedule initial and follow up sessions for customers.
- Ensure records of all sessions are updated as per existing duty worker processes and as directed by the Senior Practitioner
About You
At a minimum you will possess tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling. You will have demonstrated work experience in working with people affected by family conflict, domestic violence, or a history of trauma, and the ability to effectively support people with a history of trauma or experiencing distress.
