The Role 

We are hiring Child and Family Practitioners to provide In Home support to families referred by the Department of Child Safety. 

ProCare Australia support a number In Home Family Support providers within Queensland with Labour Hire, giving you the opportunity to work across a variety of key organisations. 

Shifts are paid at a minimum of three hours and are generally no longer than five hours. This work is well suited to people who prefer short to medium length shifts – they are great for work / life balance. The work is often contracted for a period of weeks / months, allowing you to have a set schedule. 

Shifts will be offered according to your preferences. 

Intervention activities include:

  • Parental coaching and support
  • Planning and family journey mapping
  • Positive behaviour management
  • Safety planning and implementation
  • Critical incident debriefing and support
  • Transportation
  • Mediation
  • Strengthening cultural and family connection
  • Health and wellbeing support and lifestyle coaching

 

Pay Rates

Pay Rates vary depending on the complexity of the referral. 

Weekday Rate 6am – 8pm:           $46.29 – $51.90 + 11% Super

Night Rate 8pm – 6am:                  $51.89 – $58.13 + 11% Super

Saturday Rate:                                   $64.80 – $72.66 + 11% Super

Sunday Rate:                                      $93.42 – $93.42 + 11% Super

Public Holiday Rate:                         $101.83 – $114.18 + 11% Super

 

Location/s

South East Queensland – work is available throughout Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. Let us know your location preferences. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work in an environment with families who have high complex behavioural needs
  • Attend family homes to provide support to families utilising a professional practice model
  • Provide advocation and support to families to assist in developing routines, plan daily activities and schedules based on need, problem solve, implement safety planning, utilise behaviour management strategies to assist families in de-escalating situations
  • Provide intensive personal support through a range of interpersonal and life skills ensuring a safe and supportive environment for the family
  • Engage in personal and professional development to maintain an in depth understanding of trauma and attachment, behavioural triggers and responses
  • Implement, maintain and utilise policies, procedures, frameworks and professional boundaries
  • Positive behaviour support strategies and other support strategies as outlined within the families care management documentation to ensure professional boundaries, responses and processes are maintained at all times
  • Facilitate and transport individuals and families to required activities and appointments in line with departmental policies

 

To Be Successful: 

  • Preferred Qualifications – Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Teaching or similar
  • Consideration – Diploma or Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family with extensive relevant experience
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar role working with vulnerable children and families
  • An understanding of trauma and attachment theories
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills, including repot writing / case notes 
  • Current Open Driver’s License 
  • Current Blue Card (Paid)
  • Current National Police Check (Within 12 Months)
  • Current First Aid (3 years) and CPR Certificate (12 months)
  • A vehicle with full comprehensive car insurance
  • Regular availability for day, sleepover and weekend shifts

 

Desirable:

  • NDIS Worker Screening
  • Experience working with Indigenous and CALD clients
  • COVID Vaccination (not essential)
  • Child Safety and Personal History Check (LCS2) or ability to obtain
