Your duties will include:
1. Provision of a high quality intake service including assessment of eligibility, risk issues, client needs, and appropriate service delivery options; facilitation of referral for centre based or outreach counselling, case management, and/or group programs, or referral to appropriate external services; and provision of information relevant to the expressed needs and goals of the client.
2. Timely and responsive crisis and brief clinical interventions over the telephone and face to face, which may include detailed written risk assessments encompassing identification of risk, protective and resilience factors, support networks, safety plan, and follow up.
3. Development and dissemination of a quarterly Intake Support Roster in consultation with management and staff; and contribution to the development and implementation of intake protocols and procedures.
4. Maintaining accurate intake documentation and other clinical records in line with departmental standards; collating and analysing intake and other client / service data; preparing reports as required to assist in evaluating and improving service delivery.
5. Liaising and forming partnerships with government departments, ex-service organisations, community health and welfare agencies, and all other organisations involved in meeting the identified needs of the veteran and defence force communities and families. Maintaining updated internal and external referral options and disseminating this information as required.
6. Participation in and contribution to ongoing learning and development activities and maintenance of professional status.
7. Participation in community development, and service promotion activities.
8. Participation in VVCS program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities to implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and providing feedback for the ongoing development of clinical policies and procedures.
9. Applying the principles of cooperative and safe working practices consistent with APS Values and the Department’s mission, vision, approach and values.

3. Searching for Solutions – Demonstrate a high level of competence in the application of a range of up to date, evidence based, clinical interventions and other activities, relevant to promoting and supporting the positive mental health of the VVCS client group.
4. Taking Care of Business – Proven ability to manage a diverse and high volume work load; keep up to date data entry and service documentation; develop and maintain collaborative external working relationships and networks.
5. Collaborating with Colleagues – Have highly developed interpersonal skills that enable an ability to work within a context of personal and professional diversity in a way that achieves positive outcomes.
6. Mandatory – Be a qualified Psychologist or Social Worker with a minimum of three years postgraduate supervised clinical experience, and registration as a psychologist or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
