About us 

The Centre for Women & Co. exists to deliver responsive, high quality and holistic women services to the Logan and Redland Regions, delivering specialist domestic and family violence support services and women’s health and wellbeing support services.

The Role 

The primary role of the Intake Worker at The Centre for Women & Co. is to provide timely and high quality responses to women upon their initial request for service (including domestic and family violence assessment and response and counselling). The primary responsibility of the Intake Worker is to triage all incoming referrals to the DFV Specialist Team (Logan Central) to ensure the most appropriate service is delivered.  The Intake Worker will have knowledge and experience of risk assessment frameworks and have the confidence to on-refer to external services where appropriate or to refer into The Centre for Women & Co.’s internal programs including time sensitive referrals into the DFV Assessment and Response team as well as the counselling and group programs.   

You will work collaboratively with team member members and other agencies and organisations to develop appropriate and innovative service response within the Logan and/or Redlands Community.

About You 

This role is perfect for recent graduate completing bachelors of Social Work, Counselling or Behavioural Science who are looking to expand their skills set within Domestic Family Violence. If you are a motivated and talented individual who is a team player, adapts and learns quickly, and is looking to expand upon your reception, admin and communication skills in a supportive, team environment. We want you to provide high quality client focused assessment, information and referrals that will enable you to support people entering into our service. You will possess exemplary people skills including the ability to determine priorities, multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Ideally you will have knowledge and/or experience of the not for profit sector and alignment with a feminist framework and its practical application in a progressive workplace. Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in Behavioural, Social Science, counselling, social work, or in the areas of human services management received from a recognised university, with eligibility for professional association membership  
  2. Ability to provide a high-quality client focused assessment, information and brief counselling service to women who present to The Centre for Women & Co. for domestic and family violence support
  3. Ability to work in a community-based organisation, to participate in a team in a collaborative and supportive manner, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. 
  5. Sound organisational, analytical and time management skills.
