About the Role

We are seeking locum Psychologists to work across our ADF health centres nationally. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise and knowledge within a unique work environment whilst making a positive difference to the mental health of those who serve us. You will play a vital part in providing quality clinical care to patients as an integral member of an experienced multidisciplinary clinical health care team. Your day will involve intake and risk assessments, crisis intervention, case formulation and care co-ordination involving monitoring, planning, and linking with rehabilitation and support services. The role is demanding yet fulfilling and provides exposure to a number of areas within the disciplines of organisational and military psychology. You can expect to feel a unique sense of accomplishment and pride from caring for those who serve and protect our country. Serco look after 55 defence health care bases around the country in partnership with Bupa, as a locum you will be paid to travel Australia and will get the opportunity to see and experience every state! Your accommodation and travel expenses will be paid for by us along with a daily meal allowance. Our locum arrangements are casual and therefore this opportunity is best suited for those looking to supplement their part-time or flexible employment, enjoy travelling or want to further build on their already extensive experience!

About You

You display passion and positivity as a proud and professional psychologist who is trusted to provide the highest standard of care to patients. You can work autonomously and thrive in a busy environment where you enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Alongside your engaging manner, you have a positive work attitude, outstanding communication skills and a strong people focus, enabling you to engage effectively with patients and team members alike.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A current and unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 2 years full time (or part time equivalent) experience within the last 5 years in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLTAID001) certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to show empathy and build rapport and trust with patients
  • Proficiency in using computer applications and ability to learn new systems
