Part-time Independent Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or Mental Health Social Worker to join Gymea Private Practice

About Us:

Clarity Therapy is an up and coming, innovative, mental health private practice that sets out to provide therapy in a down to earth, relatable way to our clients. 

We are a multi-disciplinary practice led by a mental health social worker which draws on the professions of psychology, counselling, social work, and psychotherapy. We focus on making therapy engaging for clients with a focus on tangible skills they can take away from sessions.

Based in Gymea close to several GP clinics and coffee shops, we have professionally designed therapy rooms with lots of natural light, ergonomic furniture, standings desks, designed for the therapy space to be comfortable for clinicians just as much as our clients. We invest in the “little touches” that make us more than just another therapy room.

We believe in therapy done differently, offering sessions in office or in nature to promote the added benefit getting outside can have on both client and clinician mental health. 

Our practice focuses on the importance of the therapeutic fit for both clients and clinicians as we know this maximises therapeutic outcomes for clients and keeps you passionate about your work. 

We receive a diverse range of referrals however have a specific focus in the following areas:

  • Stress & burnout
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Adjustment challenges
  • Couples counselling
  • Men’s mental health

Service delivery will be largely 1:1 clinical work with the opportunity to facilitate groups and ad hoc community engagement work.

About the opportunities:

We are seeking private practitioners (Registered Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, or Mental Health Social Workers) to join our team as independent contractors with part time or full time options. Within this position you will:

Requirements:

  • Hold one of the following qualifications: Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker
  • Current membership with your professional governing body (AASW or APS)
  • Registration with AHPRA for Psychologists and accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker for social workers
  • Current Medicare Australia provider status
  • Medicare Better Access Rebates
  • Ability to conduct biopsychosocial assessments using age appropriate assessment and evidence-based reasoning
  • A commitment to excellence in the delivery of a range of therapeutic approaches with individual clients, including approved focused psychological strategies/therapies within the Medicare Better Access Scheme
  • Comfort working with clinical complexity including trauma and NDIS clients
  • Understanding of clinical responsibilities including mandatory reporting and managing client risk (safety planning, appropriate risk assessments)
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely case documentation and record keeping 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to problem solve and time manage
  • Competency within your scope of practice supported by ongoing CPD records
  • A commitment to self-care, personal development and self-awareness reflected in a mature, flexible and warm communication style
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, respecting the diversities of a multi-disciplinary practice
  • Willingness to receive management supervision and direction when required within a multi- disciplinary model and within the practice policies and guidelines of Clarity Therapy
  • Strong networking and advocacy skills and sound knowledge of local referral pathways and services for clients
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to upholding professional ethics alongside of the legal and statutory requirements
  • An ABN or registered company
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance required
  • Valid Police Check and Working With Children’s Check
  • Holding valid professional indemnity and public liability insurance certificates
  • Moderate computer skills: ability to use online calendars, emails, and tele-health platforms such as Zoom

Desirables:

  • Training in experience with the following modalities: EMDR, Gottman couples’ therapy, solution focused therapies, DBT
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families 
  • Experience with couples and (or) family counselling 
  • Experience with group facilitation
  • Availability to work afternoons, evenings and/or Saturdays highly valued
  • Experience and skill in working with children, adolescents, couples, and or families
  • A willingness to devote time to promoting your services through appropriate channels
