Psychosocial Support Worker

Hospital Outreach Post Suicide Engagement (HOPE) Program

  • Located in Seymour
  • Fixed Term Full time ending June 2024
  • 80 hours per fortnight (including ADO every 4 weeks)

About the role

Here is your opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team providing psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or have attempted suicide.  You will be responsible for working collaboratively with participants with a recovery or strengths-based approach to formulate, implement and review support plans, needs assessment and safety plans. You will work with participants to monitor their progress through completion, review outcome measures and assist participants with health, clinical and community based services.   

We are looking for:

  • Sound understanding of the personal, family and social issues associated with suicidal ideation and attempts including awareness of groups identified to be at increased risk
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals and their families/carers who may be experiencing distress
  • Good understanding of recovery principals and/or strengths-based principles
  • Lived experience of mental illness and an understanding of the public mental health service system.
