About the position:
This position sits within the acute mental health inpatient service based at the Mater Mental Health Centre in Waratah. The position is part of a multidisciplinary team that works predominantly with people aged 18 to 65 yrs experiencing a mental health episode requiring inpatient care.
As a Social Worker within the service, you will provide a high quality clinical service to consumers and their families and carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for clients of the service.
This position is supported by a Senior Social Worker, Nurse Manager, multidisciplinary team and other on site Social Workers that come together on a regular basis to deliver high quality and evidence based/informed practice for consumers and their families. Professional and clinical supervision is also provided and expected to support your professional development.
The successful candidate will possess experience and/or knowledge of contemporary Social Work practices in mental health as well as an interest in proactively engaging with mental health consumers and their carers and family members.
You will also have the ability to analyse problems and apply a range of options in working with consumers with acute mental health concerns and their families/carers.
Your high level communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team will be the key to your success in this role.
