We are seeking a Student Counsellor to join our Wellbeing Team. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing January 2023. This role will be based at our Pakenham Campus but you may be required to work at times at our Berwick Campus.
We are looking for a highly skilled professional who has great capacity to be dynamic and innovative in developing responses to the wellbeing of young people in a Prep to Year 12 educational environment. The successful candidate will be ready to work hard in a rapidly changing environment and have the capacity to engage students, families and teachers in supporting student wellbeing.
Key Selection Criteria
- Graduate or Postgraduate qualifications in Psychology/ Social Work/Counselling with at least 2 years of work experience preferably in the education sector
- High level of clinical expertise and ability in provision of clinical assessment, counselling, case management and development of wellbeing team initiatives.
- Experience in work with children between the ages of 5 – 12 is an advantage
- Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a professional team
- Experience in responding to critical incidents and risk management situations
- Experience or ability to work in an cross cultural environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, school staff and parents.
- Thorough knowledge Mental Health, Mandatory reporting and Child- Safe legislative requirements
- Awareness and acceptance of student diversity
- Ability to balance all aspects of the role within a fast paced environment
