Australian Healthcare Associates (AHA) is Australia’s largest health and human services consulting firm. We invest in people and enjoy industry-leading conditions and low staff turnover. AHA has secured the contract to assist the Victorian Government Department of Education and Training (DET) to rollout the Disability Inclusion Profile to all Victorian government schools. 

The role

We are looking for a full-time Team Leader to support the rollout of the Disability Inclusion Facilitator Service in Victoria. Team Leaders will have a background in psychology, allied health or special education, a minimum of 3 years’ experience leading teams and 5 years’ experience working with children with a disability, their families, and their school.

You will lead a team of experienced student focused professionals (Disability Inclusion Facilitators) who will visit schools to facilitate Student Support Group meetings and administer the Disability Inclusion Profile. Regular trips to the regions you are supporting will be required – this will involve 1-2 days each month in-the-field attending schools with your Facilitator team. This requirement will be more extensive initially as your team get trained and up to speed. 

In addition, you will support your team through various quality assurance, moderation, and professional development activities, including:

  • Shadowing alongside Facilitators as they develop their skills.
  • Moderating completed Profiles to ensure quality and consistency across school settings and regions.
  • Assisting with recruitment of suitably qualified Facilitators.
  • Developing and delivering initial and ongoing training opportunities for the Facilitator team.
  • Coordinating ‘quality improvement days,’ scheduled during low or no Profile periods across the year.
  • Providing professional support and guidance to Facilitators.
  • Responding to and appropriately managing relevant queries, complaints and/or Profile review processes.

Comprehensive training and support in the conduct of Disability Inclusion Profiles will be provided – no prior knowledge of the Profile is required.

  • Full time contract 
  • Excellent remuneration – up to $125,000 + superannuation (depending on qualification and experience).

Required

  • Qualifications as an Allied Health professional (Psychologist (educational/developmental preferred) Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech Pathologist or Special educator.
  • Current registration with relevant professional body e.g., AHPRA, SPA or VIT
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring and coaching team members to ensure consistency and quality 
  • 5+ years of experience working in/with schools 
  • Extensive knowledge of child development and disabilities that students may experience 
  • Understanding of a strengths-based approach 
  • Experience in group facilitation 
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with an ability to work under pressure 
  • Ability to write concise and accurate reports 
  • Excellent time management skills 
  • Intermediate computer skills 
  • Valid driver’s licence and own car – for metropolitan and regional travel.
