JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Visiting Medical Officer – Psychotherapy Supervisor
Employment Type: 12 months contract Part Time
Hours: Up to 10 hours per month

Position Summary:

To provide the highest possible level of supervision and training to psychiatry registrars in psychotherapy with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists framework for psychotherapy training.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

2. Possess specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a Medicare provider number.

3. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent and evidence of subspecialty training in psychotherapy.

4. Be accredited, or eligible for accreditation, as a supervisor by the RANZCP NSW Branch Training Committee.

5. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in psychotherapy commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.

6. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience.

7. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of specialist trainees, junior medical officers and medical students.

8. Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes.
