I’m Allan Bunyan, a qualified counsellor and the owner of Strong Foundation Support Counselling in Cairns. I help people make sense of what’s going on in their life and discover their own strategies to move forward. You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, grieving, dealing with difficult experiences, or adjusting to changes in your health, relationships or everyday life. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. My approach is practical, collaborative and trauma-informed. We can explore what is troubling you, understand patterns in your thoughts and feelings, and work towards changes that matter to you, at your pace. As someone who lives with disability and uses a wheelchair, I bring lived experience alongside my counselling qualifications. I understand that changes in independence, identity and daily life can affect more than what others see. I also recognise that your experience is your own. I provide individual counselling for adults and young people aged 14 and over. Sessions are available face-to-face in Cairns on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Australia-wide through video, phone and live chat. Home visits may be available where appropriate and accessible. Private clients and self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants are welcome. A free 15-minute phone or online meet-and-greet is available to ask questions and see whether we are a good fit.
