About the position
This position will work as part of the Access Team, which provides comprehensive intake, triaging, assessment, mental health support and psychological therapy to young people aged 12-25. This multidisciplinary team serves as the first point of contact to the service, and it is critical that they demonstrate a high level of customer service and professionalism in their approach.
Working within the headspace model, the team coordinates the clinical delivery of treatment and care, making sure young people and their families receive timely, responsive and suitable services to meet their needs.
In addition, the Access Clinician must be energetic and enthusiastic and capable of working within the headspace model to deliver services within the community and enhance health care access for young people.
Some of your key responsibility will be:
1. Provide a first point of contact and conduct initial telephone screening with young people to engage them, identify needs and risks and triage responses accordingly.
2. Provide bio-psychosocial assessments (utilising the HEADSS assessment tool), initial care plans and pathway support for young people addressing needs and risks, in a shared decision making approach with the young person and their family (as appropriate).
3. Assertively monitor young people’s mental health and wellbeing as required.
4. Complete service activity and outcome measures as per service protocol.
5. Provide brief interventions, psycho-education, useful online resources and other information for mental health and drug and alcohol problems, information on services and how to access these.
