We are seeking a values-driven and dedicated Social Practitioner reporting to the Program Manager. You will provide counselling and intensive case work to individuals experiencing the impact of addiction from alcohol and other drugs.

This is a permanent full-time position based at Bridge House, Highgate.

The role you could play

  • Undertake comprehensive intake and risk assessments with participants through the implementation of approved tools
  • Support participants within a Crisis and/or case management framework; identifying their goals and support required to achieve set goals
  • Develop, plan and supervise the implementation of educational and/or developmental programs for clients
  • Provide client representation, guidance and advice where lead case management responsibility sits with an appointed organisation or mandated service
  • Assist in reporting of client services and performance at all levels including monthly internal and six-monthly external
  • Deliver on change management and new methods of working in line with best practice and ‘what works’ evidence-based strategies
  • Maintain electronic records and data to ensure service performance is evidenced and reported upon transparently

The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements

What you will bring

  • A relevant degree with relevant experience; or associate diploma with substantial experience; or qualifications in more than one discipline; or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level.
  • Degree qualification in social work, social science, psychology, counselling or related field (Desirable.)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in complex case management and outreach support services
  • Experience in the AOD sector is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience to support junior staff.
  • Experience with client advocacy and working in partnership with others.
  • An understanding of minimising risk in the workplace and adherence to WHS requirements
  • A current First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • WA Drivers licence
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
