We are looking for caring and compassionate Mental Health clinicians experienced in providing support and coordinating care for mental health consumers who have had exposure to suicidal crisis in their lives and helping them on their journeys to recovery.

The Way Back Support Service (TWBSS) Coordinator provides post-discharge support and coordination to people following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis who have been discharged from an acute setting (Psychiatric Emergency Care/ Gold Card Clinic or hospital admission), following psychiatric assessment(s), who can be supported in community and primary care settings within the SESLHD Mental Health Service (MHS).
The TWBSS Coordinator will provide the level of care and support consistent with the individual’s needs and choice, applying the stepped care approach and a focus on wellness and recovery. Service delivery includes support for problem solving as well as referral to appropriate clinical, psychosocial and social services.
The TWBSS Coordinator will be required to plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2/Occupational Therapist Level 3/Social Worker Level 3, in order to provide high quality care SESLHD MHS consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
Selection Criteria
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award, or; Qualifications in accordance with the Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award, or; nursing requirements (post grad nursing qualifications relevant to the field)
- Extensive post graduate experience in mental health for an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Senior Psychologist (completed a minimum of one year at the 9th year of service and thereafter point on the salary scale for Psychologist) or; at least three years of clinical experience for a Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to de clinical supervision to other staff
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
- Current NSW Drivers’ Licence
