JOB DESCRIPTION

Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage. The Role:
 
Centacare Family and Relationship Services is seeking to appoint a full time Practitioner for the Targeted Mobile Support program. The role is based at Southport with outreach required.

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified professional with a well-developed domestic and family violence practice framework. Demonstrated skills and experience in intake and assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning and brief solution-focused counselling are essential.  The role will offer opportunities to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.  An understanding of housing within the Gold Coast is desirable. 
  
Within this role, there is a requirement to engage in rostered on-call after-hours and weekend responses via phone to clients and referring agencies. When rostered for on-call, you will be entitled to an on-call allowance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed strengths-based practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with child protection, along with skills and experience in sensitive family engagement, collaborative case management, risk assessment, crisis intervention, brief solution-focused counselling, DVO assistance, and safety planning;
  • Experience in working with families from diverse backgrounds and with multiple complex needs, including domestic and family violence, housing, drug and alcohol, mental health issues, as well as a capacity and skills to effectively and sensitively engage with families in a home and/or outreach context;
  • Minimum 5 years’ front line practice and a minimum of 2 years’ experience at a senior level in the community service sector;
  • Demonstrated skills in undertaking comprehensive risk assessments, intensive case management and coordination, referrals for additional services and supporting clients’ transition to sustainable housing;
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of working with the housing sector with regard to domestic and family violence;
  • Extensive knowledge of Domestic Violence Legislation, Child Safety Legislation and the Family Law Act; and
  • Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills.

  
Essential:
  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, from a recognised tertiary institution;
  • Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the domestic violence sector with knowledge of the Domestic Violence Legislation, Practice Standards and crisis intervention;
  • Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply;
  • Agree (if offered employment), that Centacare can conduct an Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check;
  • Agree to sign a statutory declaration stating you have no overseas criminal offences;
  • Have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is to be provided at interview (please contact us for detail if needed);
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.

  

Remuneration:

Remuneration for this position is paid in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, with the base salary commencing at Level 5.1 ($44.9179 per hour).
Salary packaging options to increase your take home pay are available.
