Our client, Women’s Health and Family Services, is a well-established and highly regarded independent ‘for purpose’ community services organisation, supporting the health and wellbeing of women, their families, and their communities, providing assistance to vulnerable and disadvantaged women through their clinic, counseling, and support services.

The services the organisation provides are open to all Western Australian women and their families, with consideration made for the unique needs of Aboriginal, migrant and refugee families.  
  
About the Role:  

Working within the organisations Multicultural Women’s Advocacy Service, the role of Family and Domestic Violence Advocate is to deliver culturally sensitive case management services including support, information, referral, and advocacy to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse survivors of family and domestic violence. The priority of the service is to provide prevention, early intervention, and a recovery space, not a crisis service.
  
Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing case management to victim-survivors of family and domestic violence
  • Identifying key risk factors to determine the level of FDV risk using Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework tool
  • Constructing a safety plan in collaboration with the client to improve survivors’ and their family’s safety
  • Action safety plan where relevant including referrals to Safe at Home and Police CAD alerts and follow up
  • Capture client data onto organisation and Department databases,
  • Complete needs assessment and develop a case plan to provide advocacy and support to address issues relevant to individual client’s needs.
  • Case manage referrals to other agencies, ensuring services provided assist the client in line with case plan
  • Provide/facilitate clients’ access to vocational and personal skills development and other programs that develop effective living skills

This is a permanent Part-time position working 3 or 4 days per week based primarily from our clients site located in Northbridge and may expand in the future to include sites located in Joondalup, and Mirrabooka. Please advise in your application how many days you are ideally seeking.

Job Requirements:  

 To be considered for this exciting opportunity you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in social work, community services, cultural studies, family studies, or related fields
  • Knowledge and experience in providing advocacy and support to individual clients affected by Family and Domestic Violence
  • Knowledge of domestic violence issues, community development, outreach work, and cultural issues
  • Experience working with CaLD communities, particularly experience and/or a clear understanding of issues facing CaLD women and children
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a Case Management model
  • Understanding of access and equity, social justice, and multiculturalism in Australia
  • Competent using Office 365 products inc. Word and Outlook
  • Sound understanding of and/or experience in needs analysis and evaluation
  • Ability to exercise professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality and integrity with clients and across programs
  • Fluency in a language other than English (desirable)

  • Valid Western Australian Driver’s License
  • Reliable vehicle to travel between sites
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • In line with Western Australian Government Department of Health guidelines, certification of COVID-19 vaccination
