Role Overview:

The Engagement and Assessment Clinician will directly resource an integrated, youth-friendly counselling and information service for Victorian government secondary school students with mild to moderate mental health issues.

This position is funded under the Enhancing Mental Health Supports in Secondary Schools (EMHSS) program to enhance provision of early intervention services and appropriate treatment to young people at the earliest possible time, to reduce severity of mental health and substance use difficulties.

You will engage, assess, and provide brief intervention support to young people in school-based settings; discuss and initiate client referrals to appropriate supports and participate in supporting a timely, responsive, and efficient school-based response to young people’s mental health needs

 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or other health related discipline with current mental health credentialing allowing for registration with AHPRA, AASW or AAOT, as either Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker or Mental Health Occupational Therapist
  • Experience in working with young people including demonstrated skills in the provision of psychological counselling that is developmentally appropriate and time limited
  • Demonstrated skills related to an ability to engage, assess and provide brief intervention support
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance 
  • Current Driver’s License
