Behaviour Support Practitioner Positive Shift

JOB DESCRIPTION

Permanent Part-Time/Full-Time (Minimum 0.6 FTE)

The Behaviour Support Practitioner will report to the Director and will be responsible for the following: 

  • Undertake and write Functional Behaviour Assessments
  • Develop, write and review Positive Behaivour Support Plans (Interim Behaviour Support Plans and/or Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans) in collaboration with people with a disability, family, carers, support workers, allied health providers, decision makers and other stakeholders
  • Train, monitor and support the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Report and meet Restrictive Practice Requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key implementers and stakeholders
  • Complete client notes and other required documentation to ensure compliance

Successful applicants must have/be:

  • An Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Psychology/behavioural sciences/Occupational Therapy/Speech and Language Pathology/Social Work or relevant experience in Behaviour Support and registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Experience working with or supporting people with a disability 
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication 
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines 
  • Ability to follow legislative requirements
  • Hold a Driver’s Licence, and have a car and be able to travel to clients
  • Able to meet NDIS Worker’s Screening Check requirements
  • Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
  • Able to gain Core registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner under the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development

Desired: 

  • Experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner/writing/developing/implementing Functional Behaviour Assessments and Behaviour Support Plans
  • Post-graduate degree in Psychology/Occupational Therapy/Speech and Language Pathology/Social Work
  • Training or qualifications in Positive Behaviour Support
  • Registration with AHPRA or other professional body as a Provisional Psychologist/Psychologist/Speech and Language Pathologist/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist or ability to gain registration
