The Orange Door (Support and Safety Hubs) is a new way for women, children and young people experiencing family violence and families in need of support with the care, wellbeing and development of children and young people, to access the services they need to be safe and supported.

The Family Violence services and programs operate in a manner that is consistent with the aims, objectives and values of The Salvation Army and the guidelines provided by Department of Health and Human Services, Family Safety Victoria, Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria and No to Violence.

The Support and Safety Hub provides support and assistance to victim survivors of Family Violence and keeping male perpetrators of family violence in view and making them accountable for their actions. The Support and Safety Hub also assists families who need extra support with the care of children.

Why this role matters

We are seeking a values driven SIT Practitioner to complete Screening, Identification and Triage (SIT) responsibilities for the Support and Safety Hub and Perpetrator response services.

You will successfully

• Demonstrate initiative and exercise judgement to support the delivery of screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocation and coordinated referrals for the Support and Safety Hub
• Follow legislative and policy guidelines, and seek information from multiple sources to inform assessment or risk and planning
• (may be required to) Hold a case load in the context of the demand management strategy for the Support and Safety Hub
• Support implementation and development of the SIT model in an evolving process of design.
• Positively engage and appropriately assess the needs of perpetrators of family violence, referred to the Support and Safety Hub
• Advocate effectively for clients with relevant government and non-government social services and judiciaries.
• Engage with internal and external partners as required and support in the development and maintenance of effective working relationships
• Contribute to continuous improvement including involvement in the ongoing evaluation and monitoring of both the Support and Safety Hub’s and the agency’s service delivery and contribute to future planning and service development

This is a max term full time position to 23 August 2023 and is primarily based in Morwell, location may vary between Morwell and Wonthaggi.

Initial operating hours for the Support and Safety Hub will be 9.00 – 5.00 pm Mon – Fri with the likelihood of service hours being made flexible and requests for overtime.

What we’re looking for

• Tertiary qualification (desirable) in social work, community services, youth work, psychology or community development or relevant experience and education in a social service environment
• Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Workers (Recommendation 209).
• Advance literacy and computer skills
• A current VIC Drivers Licence
• Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
• Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
