The Roel of the Team
The Counselling and Mental Health team provides a range of services including Generalist Counselling, Culturally Sensitive Counselling, Primary Mental Health Clinical Care Coordination (CCC’s), Children’s counselling, Psychological Treatment Services (PTS) and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). The service delivery includes assessment, individual and group therapy, case reviews, consumer referral, educational programs, service liaison, consumer advocacy and other tasks as identified to address consumer needs.
The Administration Officer will provide support to the Senior Team Leader and Clinicians to ensure the provision of the best practice standards for our consumers. This position will work with the Senior Leader, or delegate, to ensure consistent practices across the mental health program and that processes contribute to continuity of care as consumers move through services as their needs change. The worker will undertake tasks consistent with the consumer’s service plan as directed.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The role of the position is:
This position supports the multidisciplinary counselling and mental health team to ensure the provision of best practice service standards for consumers of the Mental Health and Counselling service at Bendigo Community Health Services. The role will work with the Senior Leader, or delegate, to ensure consistent practices and processes across the mental health program that contributes to continuity of care as consumers move through the service.
The responsibilities of the position are:-
- Manage enquiries and referrals for counselling and mental health services.
- Ensure appropriate record management, manage appointments and data entry as required.
- Provide information and support for consumers and community members accessing counselling services as delegated.
- Contribute to continuity of care as consumers move through services as their needs change.
- Undertake tasks consistent with the consumer’s service plan as directed.
- Support clinical services, as agreed by the Senior Leader, with functions such as providing information to monitor caseloads, waiting lists, and administrative tasks.
- Perform other duties as directed that are within the limits of the staff member’s skill, competence and training and the scope of the staff member’s award/agreement classification.
Skills and experience
Essential
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High level organisational skills including a proven ability to meet deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Capacity to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and within an agreed framework to deliver delegated responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to engage consumers with a range of presenting issues and assist them to engage with the service and to facilitate referrals as appropriate.
- Completed or willing to complete Mental Health First Aid Accreditation or equivalent training.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting equality, diversity and human rights.
- Experienced in the confidential management of consumer records and databases.
- A current Working with Children Check.
- Ability to provide vaccination status information that meets the requirements for healthcare workers.
Desirable
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Best Practice, TRAK, SharePoint, FIXUS, other corporate documentation systems or a willingness to learn.
- Experience working in a similar role.
- Current Drivers Licence.
