Guidestar are seeking experienced practitioners to join our team to deliver Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services. Work flexibly within a hybrid home/ office model and ensure work life balance as part of our passionate team. We offer a supportive team culture, practitioner training budget and ongoing professional supervision. Full & part-time available.

Various locations – Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs, Geelong/Colac, Shepparton

ABOUT US:

Guidestar is a specialist disability/mental health provider. We provide high quality, evidence-based supports for people with high and complex needs. Our practice frameworks are trauma informed, person-centred, evidence based and strengths based. Our work is grounded in the PBS Framework. Services offered include:

  • Individualised psychological assessments (such as PBS, Clinical Risk, Ecological, and Sensory assessments);
  • Specialist and Support Coordination;
  • Practice Coaching, Clinical Leadership & Professional Supervision;
  • Coordination of complex transitions;
  • Functional Behaviour Assessment Reports and Behaviour Support Plan development;
  • Education to professionals, supporters and/or families through formal training, tailored sessions, and/or reflective supervision;
  • Sector Training;
  • Therapy clinic.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Provide specialist assessment, consultation, therapeutic interventions and professional services to support people with disability, their families and support systems.
  • Development of effective interventions using assessment, treatment, programming, behaviour support, therapeutic program development and research skills.
  • Improve the quality of services provided to people with disability who have complex needs and display behaviours of concern through the provision of expert behaviour support and intervention in line with contemporary and evidence-based practice.
  • Undertake specific adaptive functioning, risk and behaviour-related assessments.
  • Prepare, write, deliver and implement psychosocial and behaviour assessment reports as well as quality behaviour support plans.

Our head office is in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, with some work in the Geelong region and surrounds.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or higher qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Nursing.
  • Specialist skills in positive behaviour support (assessment, consultation and therapeutic and behavioural support services) to people and children with disability, their families, supporters and service providers (minimum 2 years’ experience desirable).
  • Behaviour support and intervention including comprehensive behavioural assessments, development and implementation of behaviour support plans and skills in working with a person’s support system (minimum 2 years’ experience desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support to clients with high and complex needs (including the experience of mental ill health and trauma) to develop and implement intervention strategies in collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people with behaviours of concern that challenge using a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to provide clinical advice and consultancy services, deliver training programs and produce high quality written reports.
  • Sound understanding of contemporary, trauma-informed and evidence based approaches to the design & delivery of intervention programs for individuals with dual disabilities
  • Knowledge, skills & experience with family focussed & person centred practice
  • Capacity to work autonomously & as part of a team
  • Current valid driver’s licence & use of own vehicle for business purposes
  • Working With Children Check
  • Registered with AHPRA or for Speech Pathologists a practising member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
  • COVID-19 digital certificate
