We now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Counsellor to join our vibrant team in the Learning, Teaching and Student Engagement Directorate. This is a unique part-time opportunity (18.125 hours per week), fixed term through to October 2023 and based at the Cairns Nguma-bada campus. Remuneration is $51.35 – $58.96 per hour ($97,118 – $111,524 FTE) plus superannuation.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
In a highly supportive team environment, you’ll have the opportunity to provide expert mental health and high-standard assessment, psychological services and interventions based on best practice and evidence-based models to support students enrolled at JCU. This rewarding role will include the provision of individual counselling, training, workshops, crisis intervention and debriefing, as well as psychometric assessments when required.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
As a qualified and experienced counsellor, you will bring a track record of working with complex and high-risk mental health presentations. You take a team-focused approach, operating as an active member of a multidisciplinary service function and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries and with external service providers. JCU is committed to ensuring the student experience is engaging and inclusive, which you will be able to demonstrate your appreciation for by discussing in the application your background working with a broad range of clients, including those from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, preferably in a tertiary setting. It is also a requirement of this position to hold and maintain ongoing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and to hold, or be eligible to obtain a Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
