Family Violence Opportunities Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service

JOB DESCRIPTION

The AWAHS Dhelk Dja Family Violence team supports victim survivors and their children to remain safely within their community and maintain a life free of violence while also addressing the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence.

The Dhelk Dja Family violence program aims to keep women and children safe and encourage their healing and resilience through individual support and group work. The role of the family and community in ‘growing up’ the child, building their sense of belonging and resilience, educating them about their aboriginal culture, will be integral to the development and operation of the program.

We need people to build positive relationships and networks with relevant Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal support organisations, services and the Police to ensure that appropriate referrals and supports are put in place.

We currently have TWO OPPORTUNITIES

1. Case Manager (Aboriginal role)

  • Assess family violence risks and work intensively with victim survivors and their children to identify goals and to work alongside the family to achieve them.

2. Program Coordinator (non-Aboriginal)

  • Lead the FV team
  • Sound knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, Information Sharing and Multi Agency Risk Assessment Framework (MARAM)
  • An understanding the issues of family violence and the impact on women, children and families in an Aboriginal context

If you really want to make a difference in the community and have the skills, experience and qualifications, please apply or contact Dan on [email protected] or 0403 899143 for more details
