Job Description

We currently have a great opportunity for a Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our Disability Employment Services team. atWork Australia offers flexible work options – office based and client facing or Telehealth Services with work from home option. 

Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellors within atWork Australia have a diverse and influential role in helping clients who have a disability, injury or health condition to make or maintain a successful return to work. Ideal candidates will be passionate about using the therapeutic approaches of counselling to help clients progress toward returning to work and for clients who are currently working, sustaining their employment.

Key duties of the role will include:

  • Providing expert guidance to Job Coaches and inWork Support Coaches on strategies to help clients sustain employment or progress towards returning to work
  • Providing vocational counselling to clients utilising various counselling methodologies focusing on interventions to maximise return to work progression and sustainability
  • Referring clients to additional external support including medical professionals and community organisations on behalf of clients to address RTW (return to work) barriers
  • Providing evaluations on client work readiness and monitoring and reporting on the progression of clients;
  • Largely autonomous role but part of the atWork Australia team
  • Minimum report writing e.g. no lengthy vocational assessments
  • No billable hours. The focus is quality of servicing and helping clients to achieve employment milestones
  • Flexible working options and variable working hours 

Qualifications

Skills and experience needed:
Tertiary qualifications and full registration with ASORC (Australia Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors) or RCAA (Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australasia)
– An ability to communication sensitively with people from all walks of life and a positive attitude
