This local support is a key recommendation of the recent Royal Commission into Victoria’s mental health system and promises to make our community a better place to live.

About the service

Wellways, Albury Wodonga Health and Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO), are working together to provide mental health and wellbeing supports in Benalla & Wangaratta to ensure everyone can access treatment and care closer to home.

The new Benalla & Wangaratta Mental Health and Wellbeing Local will provide welcoming and inclusive support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health challenges, including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug addiction treatment and care needs.

We are working with the local community and people who have a personal experience of mental health issues and recovery to build these services so they are the best they can be.

The Benalla & Wangaratta Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is committed to reconciliation, lived experience and inclusivity. About the role

The Support and Connect Lead is responsible for the leadership and management of the Support and Connect Team. The role requires a skilled people leader with experience in effectively leading teams and building a consumer and community led, inclusive, and values driven culture.

As lead, the role will also support the development of service delivery, including the establishment of collaborative models of care and the associated policies and procedures.

The Support and Connect Team assist in delivering a community-led, integrated partnership, creating a responsive and helpful Local Mental Health and Wellbeing Service experience for the communities of Benalla, Wangaratta and Mansfield.

The team will provide the first point of contact with the Local and provide a range of peer-led and psychosocial supports to clients and their families. Providing peer-led navigation and support and single session therapies are integral elements of the service, as well as:

  • Intake and Assessment
  • Care Co-ordination
  • Wellbeing Interventions.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum, Bachelor level) in a Health discipline including Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy
  • Relevant Professional Registration
  • Minimum 3 years mental health or community health service delivery experience
  • Experience providing oversight and leadership to a multidisciplinary team demonstrated through previous experience in positions of leadership or clinical supervision of other employees
  • Able to promote ownership and accountability of work by facilitating a comprehensive governance culture within the team, including successful achievement of KPIs
  • Proven ability to embed lived experience across models of care
  • High level of skill in building collaborative relationships, negotiation, influence and change management
  • Ability to develop operational systems and practices necessary to deliver services and monitor and evaluate compliance and effectiveness
  • Able to provide regular performance reporting data across all key metrics to all stakeholders.
