We offer more than 400 courses, from Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)/Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)/ Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), through to nationally accredited qualifications such as certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees, graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and short courses.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be accountable for high quality career counselling and career development education to assist Chisholm students to make informed pathway and career decisions.

This role supports transitional stages that occur in the student journey, from prospective to enrolled, as well as pathway and transition, including preparing students toward employment readiness. The role contributes to improving participation, completion rates and graduate outcomes for students.

The incumbent is a key and active participant of the Student Support and Engagement team and provides support as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Design innovative service delivery methods for student self-awareness, placement preparation and job readiness to support student completion of qualifications
  • Produce, update and disseminate career resources for students to provide information and knowledge using preferred student channels
  • Develop and maintain referenced career based digital content to support student cohort needs including vocational, VCE, VCAL and Higher Education students
  • Deliver high quality career counselling services and vocational assessment (as required) to drive student satisfaction, across numerous service channels including online, phone and face to face.
  • Provide career advice, options to pathways and industry relevant advice to assist student decision making
  • Coordinate career development learning and career digital literacy activities to prepare students to meet industry proficiencies
  • Coordinate career development content to meet student needs across the lifecycle of education and training

ABOUT YOU

You will have a related Degree in people related services; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialist expertise in career advice, career related training or job placement related services. A Graduate qualification in Career Education and Development is desirable but not essential.

Crucial to your success will be your proven track record in:

  • Significant experience with careers related counselling and or case management with careers related services
  • Demonstrated ability to present information and facilitate group work
  • Experience working with post-secondary students
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and advocate
  • Strong problem solving, collaboration and advice seeking skills
