JOB DESCRIPTION

Gladstone Women’s Health Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the Gladstone Region for 30 years.

We are recruiting a client focused and enthusiastic individual with experience in providing case management, crisis support, and advocacy for women. As part of our team you will work in the areas of support, advocacy, and program facilitation.

You will be supporting those who have in the past or are currently experiencing issues including but not limited to: domestic, family, or sexual violence and those who face general to complex issues relating to health and well-being.

Employment is commensurate with experience and qualifications under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, 2010.

Remuneration package: SCHADS Award, level to be negotiated with the right candidate, Flexible work arrangements and other benefits to be negotiated.

Qualifications and Experience

· Possession of relevant  qualifications in   counselling, social work, or the equivalent are highly desirable. 

· Minimum two years of demonstrated experience in crisis support, advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning, and case management.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (including public speaking, presentations, and facilitation skills).

· Knowledge and experience in a range of intervention models.

· Skillset to ensure the provision of culturally, gender, and age appropriate services to clients.

· Demonstrated understanding of the specific challenges facing women and families in the Gladstone Region.

· Demonstrated experience in working effectively with children & women who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic and family violence or other trauma including sexual violence.

· Working knowledge of the Domestic & Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and knowledge of court and legislative proceedings as they relate to the Act.

· Working knowledge of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 1978 and knowledge of court and legislative proceedings as they relate to the Act.

· Current driver’s license and Blue Card.

· Ability to keep accurate and up-to-date statistical records that meet all funding requirements.

 

Selection Criteria

1.    Demonstrate your knowledge of the social, legal, and economic issues affecting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.

2.    Demonstrate your ability to work in ways that are innovative, inclusive, and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally linguistically diverse groups.

3.    Outline your extensive experience working within a case management framework including risk assessments, safety planning, and case notes. This includes the ability to manage and maintain client documentation and proficiency in the use of computer software.

4.    Demonstrate your ability to work cooperatively within a team and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in situations that are both sensitive and crisis in nature.

5.    Outline your experience in providing crisis support and advocacy for women and their children while remaining resilient and motivated in achieving high standards in the delivery of essential frontline services.
