ABOUT MARYMEAD

Marymead is a well-respected, community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya, and Canberra. Marymead is now searching for an experienced Clinical Youth Navigator to form part of our Mindmap – ACT Youth Portal team.

ABOUT THE IDENTIFIED CLINICAL YOUTH NAVIGATOR POSITION

Marymead in conjunction with ACT Health and the Office for Mental Health and Wellbeing developed Mindmap, an online portal providing children and young people with access to mental health support and resources. This unique model provides an integrated source of information and easy access points for children and young people experiencing mental health challenges.

The Clinical Youth Navigator is a part-time position and involves service delivery and direct clinical client contact (mostly via telehealth) in the Youth Navigation (Mindmap) program within the Mental Health and Wellbeing unit. The Clinical Youth Navigator will help service users navigate the Portal, provide warm referrals for local services, and provide clinical support through clinical active hold. In addition you will convey information and support to improve accessibility to Marymead services for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.

The Portal is operational between midday and 11 pm, Monday to Sunday each week. The core hours for the Clinical Youth Navigator position will span across Monday to Friday for 7.5 hours per week based on client need. This position is a part-time contract until June 2023 with the possibility of extension.

NOTE: This is an identified position and Marymead considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s42 of the Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT) and as such is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THIS POSITION YOU WILL POSSESS:

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling or equivalent;
  • Training in Accidental Counsellor or Mental Health First Aid
  • ACT Working with Vulnerable People Clearance and NSW Working with Children Check;
  • Knowledge of early intervention for mental health and trauma-informed care and practice;
  • Experience with Salesforce and Penelope would be advantageous
