JOB DESCRIPTION

Your role:

This positions is a duel position where you work as a Alcohol and Drugs Counsellor and support parents to overcome addiction so they can reunite with their children.

Counselling, consultancy and continuing care to:

  • Individuals with drug and/or alcohol problems 18 years and over.
  • Families and friends of individuals with drug and/or alcohol problems.
  • Individuals currently involved in the criminal justice system
  • Professionals needing assistance in working with and supporting individuals with drug and/or alcohol problems.

AND

Family Reunification

  • Work directly with parents that are experiencing alcohol and substance use issues.
  • Parents are placed on a Family Reunification Order and are mandated to attend AOD treatment.
  • You as the Drug and Alcohol Counsellor will facilitate treatment through counselling, case management and outreach working towards reunifying families.

The skills you will use day to day:

  • Clinical experience and use of theory that underpins drug and alcohol treatment
  • Understanding of the stages of change
  • In depth knowledge of addiction
  • Counselling skills which include the ability to use CBT

 

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling and specifically a minimum of a Cert IV in AOD or Post Graduate Certificate in AOD, including Dual Diagnosis competencies or a minimum 2 years in the AOD sector.

  • Salary is SCHCADS level 5 starting at around $88,000 FTE
  • Pro rata to a 0.9, 9 day fortnight

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
