An exciting opportunity exists for a mental health clinician with a strong interest in and commitment to older peoples mental health to join the very experienced and dedicated Ryde OPMH team.

MHDA Statement of Intention

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.

The primary function of the OPMHS Mental Health Professional is to work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide high quality, evidenced based clinical care to Older People presenting with complex mental health issues in collaboration with the consumer &their carer/s, the consumers General Practitioner, Aged Care Services, other medical professionals and Non-Government Organisations (where applicable). The OPMHS consumer cohort requires specific and specialist assessment and interventions associated with the complexity of their clinical presentations including the presence of co-morbidities such as physical health problems, drug and alcohol use / abuse and issues of ageing including Dementia and the Behavioural &Psychological Symptoms of Dementia.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

 

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APRHA) registration as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist or eligibility for membership to the AASW. 
  3. Demonstrated skills in conducting comprehensive mental health assessment and management, including assessment, risk management and care coordination.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to comprehensively assess and manage risk associated with suicide, deliberate self-harm , reputational risk and risk associated with violence, exploitation and abuse.
  5. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of the Recovery Model of care within Mental Health and the ability to implement and evaluate these care processes within the context of clinical care planning.
  7. Demonstrated experience working in Community Mental Health services and a demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
  8. Current NSW Drivers Licence.
