Group Facilitator, Youth Programs Relationships Australia

JOB DESCRIPTION

Relationships Australia is a community sector organisation with a proud and rich history. We connect with families, communities and thousands of people across the lifespan. You may know us for our family and couples counselling – we also give back to the community through our work in family violence prevention, working with people experiencing gambling harm, with families that have been touched by the sudden death of a loved one, with people who have experienced trauma and with people who are challenged by their mental health, among other things.

With us you will work with people at times of vulnerability in their lives, create a career you’ll love and join a warm and caring team who make a difference.

This position facilitates a range of support for young people including the Got Your Back program and Young Carers Connect Program. The Got Your Back program works with young people affected by domestic and family violence, providing individual face to face, online and phone support as well as facilitating groups in community settings. The Young Carers Connect program is a fortnightly online social space to provide young carers across Australia with an opportunity to connect with each other in a safe environment with support and activities. This position also provides limited case work and considered referrals to young people.

  • Engage group participants to generate individual safety plans and/or facilitate appropriate and supportive referrals.

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in youth work, psychology, social work, or relevant field.
  2. Training and experience in developing and delivering support, psycho-educational and/or therapeutic groups in person and on-line.
  3. Demonstrated experience in engaging and working with vulnerable young people facing complex issues within a trauma informed framework.
