JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a suitable qualified Children’s Counsellor to join the Early Intervention Specialist Program (EI) in Caboolture. This is a part-time role working 4 days per week for 12 months.

The EI program offers individual therapeutic counselling and group work, to children and young people, aged 0-18. You will: 

  • Undertake assessments and counselling to assist children and young people cope with trauma and abuse related issues.
  • Prepare written reports relating to; clients matters (eg case notes, referrals, case review) and statistical and administrative reports.
  • Support children, young people and their families using a child-centred, and strength based framework with a Trauma informed Practice using play therapy.
  • Provide group work to children, family therapy & children’s counselling to assist clients achieve their goals.
  • Advocate for clients and provide suitable referrals if required.

What you’ll need: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Social Science or  Human Services and eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association.
  • A current drivers licence.
  • A current blue card.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
