Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary Range: $107,810 to $114,711 FTE Gross per annum

Good Counsel College, Innisfail

Good Counsel College is a small, but growing, Catholic co-educational secondary school with a strong sense of community and pride that offers a quality and holistic educational experience for students in Years 7-12. It operates under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Cairns and enjoys collaborative partnerships with Catholic Primary schools in Tully, South Johnstone, Silkwood, Innisfail and Babinda whilst also welcoming students from state and other schools who are seeking a Catholic education for their children and who share our values.

About the Role

An employee in this position is required to focus on student wellbeing and work collaboratively with school
communities to promote and foster the development and mental health of all students, through the provision of a
comprehensive counselling service.
 
The School Counsellor acknowledges and attempts to be responsive to the diverse needs of the contemporary
Catholic school, which is an increasingly complex community of teachers, parents and learners. This response occurs in
partnership with parents and other members of the school community.
 
The School Counsellor is sensitive to the developmental needs of the students and the staff in their support of
students. The role holder requires global knowledge of the issues presenting in the school as well as an awareness of
the unique character of each school and the range and depth of resources available in any one school.

 

Work Requirements

  • With Teacher Qualifications – Be registered or eligible to be registered with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Without Teacher Qualifications – Hold a Working with Children Blue Card
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
