The Role

Fertility Counsellors are important members of this successful healthcare company and we respect and value the need for experienced for a compassionate and passionate individual providing personalised and quality patient care. This important role involves the provision of counselling for couples and individuals undertaking fertility treatment including

  • Therapeutic and supportive counselling for patients during and after treatment 
  • Fertility and ART treatment decision making counselling; 
  • Relationship counselling; 
  • Donor implications counselling for donor egg, donor sperm donor embryo and surrogacy cycles. Counsellors provide information and support for all donors and recipients.
  • Ensure that all appropriate professional standards and statutory requirements are met
  • Supports all team members by working together as a group to achieve organisational outcomes/goals

Essential Criteria

  • Social Worker: eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or
  • Psychologist: full registration with AHPRA 
  • Fertility counsellors are required to obtain membership of the Australian & New Zealand Infertility Counsellors Association (ANZICA) in order to undertake third party reproductive counselling
  • Significant supervised experience in therapeutic and supportive counselling  with couples and individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Organised with strong attention to detail
  • Empathetic and sensitive in nature
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite, database and Internet knowledge

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the provision of mandatory, therapeutic and supportive Assisted Reproductive Treatment (ART) counselling
  • Exposure to medical or IVF environment
  • Current Victorian/Tasmanian driver’s licence
