Kummara Ltd. is an Indigenous organisation established in 1999 to provide support to vulnerable families at risk. The organisation’s objective is to support the long-term wellbeing and resilience of Indigenous children and families.

KEY DUTIES
The role of the Family Support Practitioner is to:
- Provide culturally sensitive and competent practice and resources to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families.
- Maintain a case load of client families and deliver individual case work, groups and community projects
- Identify family needs using specified assessment tools and undertake screening and assessment of risks and needs of children and young people
- Provide advocacy, information, advice, referral and linkage to relevant services, as appropriate to the assessed level of need
- Regularly attend and participate in case consultations
- Maintain positive relationships with government, NGO and community organisations to ensure collaboration with other agencies and an integrated approach
- Maintain accurate records, report writing and data entry requirements in line with professional standards
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant community experience in the fields related to this area of work e.g. Family Support, Child Protection, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology.
- Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
- Queensland Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
- Provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination (in consideration of required duties under work health and safety legislation, including relevant public health orders)
