About the Role

As a specialist member of a multi-disciplinary team working in a school, you will connect with students, staff, parents, carers and the broader community. This position provides services such as counselling, assessment and intervention, focusing on students’ mental health and wellbeing.

Multiple permanent full-time and part-time positions are available in secondary schools in Metropolitan Region.

Salary advertised is reflective of full-time position.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents and families
  • Support and manage diagnoses from external providers, monitoring students’ progress
  • Assist school communities to respond to critical incidents and provide counselling and support to affected students
  • Identify needs and participate in the referral and planning of services for children, parents and families to community health agencies
  • Complete the minimum requirements for 30 hours of professional development activities annually in line with the Psychology Board of Australia registration standards

A mandatory requirement of this role

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification in Psychology and general registration with AHPRA. Or if a new graduate, must hold provisional registration with AHPRHA with a supervision plan approved by the Psychology Board of Australia prior to the commencement of employment.
