A Wellbeing Team Member supports the mission, vision and values of the College community. This role requires collaboration with inclusive learning staff, students, parents and teachers to meet the individual learning, social & emotional needs of students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides students with short-term, individual or small group mentoring
sessions to support their social, emotional, academic, and physical wellbeing. - Supports students to create personal and achievable goals that enhance
student behaviour, social performance, attendance, academic engagement,
and motivation - Helps students to identify their strengths and collaboratively explores areas of character development.
- Refers students to Head of Wellbeing where Tier 3 mental health concerns are identified or where mentoring may not be suitable
- Provides consultation and recommendations to parents and families as
required in consultation with Head of Wellbeing. - Documents clear and cohesive case notes regarding all encounters with
students, parents, staff, and external agencies - Meets regularly with Head of Wellbeing to discuss student case load.
- Attends and actively contributes to Wellbeing Team meetings
- Works collaboratively within the Wellbeing Team to create positive student
wellbeing outcomes - Engages in regular supervision and professional development opportunities
- Works collaboratively with the wider college community including staff,
students, coaches and families - Attends college information evenings, camps, outdoor education events and staff meetings as required
- Carries out any other relevant, additional duties as directed by the College
Deputy Principal or Head of Wellbeing
Essential: - Relevant Bachelor or Diploma Level qualifications in areas of counselling,
youth work, social work, community development or similar - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comprehensive understanding of informed consent, confidentiality, and its
limits within the school context - Ability to prioritise a range of tasks and manage time effectively to meet
agreed deadlines - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to receive feedback and seek support as required
- Excellent interpersonal skills in working with children, adolescents, and
families - Maintains ethical standards and professionalism when working with students and families
- Satisfactory police Check and Working with Children’s Check
- Demonstrates understanding and acceptance of the Central Coast Sports
College Vision and Mission Statements and the values that underpin them
Preferred:
- Prior experience working with children and adolescents and their families in
an educational setting - Prior experience working with students with a mental health needs and/or a
disability. - Post-graduate qualifications in relation to child and adolescent wellbeing
- Knowledge of Child Protection and current issues relating to student
wellbeing and learning - Technological skills such as Word Processing Skills, Spreadsheets skills,
Database skills. - An understanding of the NCCD process.
- Experience in writing/implementing strategies on student Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- Mental Health first aid
