About the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students)

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) provides administrative support to key strategic and operational functions of the University’s student-related and academic services. Under the general portfolio, the Office team support Portfolio leadership and facilitate dialogue between key service areas to help the Portfolio ensure Flinders’ educational offerings are innovative, of assured quality, and are student centred. About the Role

As the Manager, Counselling Service you will be responsible for providing leadership and management to a team of Counsellors and project/support staff who provide a range of services to enhance student wellbeing including intake and assessment, complex case management, counselling, group programs, and wellbeing initiatives. You will have a key role in ensuring that efficient models of services, systems and processes are in place to support student wellbeing. You will provide professional supervision to the team and will support the Director of Student Services to assess risk in complex cases and to manage resources to ensure the demand for service is met.

About You

You will be an experienced Psychologist or Social Worker who is able to lead and develop high performing teams in providing support services and programs that enhance wellbeing. You will be an excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills enabling you to effectively build relationships and manage stakeholders with competing demands. You will be a problem solver, with high level analytical skills and experience in solving complex problems requiring strategic thought and independent judgement.

To be successful in this role you will also demonstrate:

• Relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training
• Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychological Board of Australia or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
• Proven ability to develop, deliver and evaluate effective services and programs that address wellbeing.
• Understanding of the higher education sector and factors that impact on wellbeing.
• Demonstrated experience in providing professional supervision to a team of experienced counsellors, including psychologists and social workers.
