JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Permanent Part-Time role
  • Monday – Friday (48 hrs per f/n)
  • Based in Sunnybank

Carinity Education – Southside has an opportunity for a Youth Worker – Student Wellbeing to join the team on a Part-Time basis, 48 hours per fortnight or 4 days a week. The Youth Worker – Student Wellbeing, plays an important role in working collaboratively with students and staff, striving to ensure that the social and emotional environments within the school are positive, respectful and calm.

What do I need for the role?

  • Availability across Monday to Friday
  • Certificate IV in Teacher Aide, Youth Work or similar relevant discipline
  • Ability to quickly, sensitively and effectively assist with the de-escalation of young people in moments of personal stress
  • Outcomes Star and TCI training is advantageous
  • Knowledge of IT based school management systems (TASS or similar) preferred
  • Hold current drivers’ licence and Blue Card prior to commencement
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of disabilities, including ASD and social emotional disorders

Carinity Education – Southside is an independent special assistance girl’s school providing secondary education, vocational training and mentoring for students in Years 7 – 12, many of whom identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Students are treated with unconditional positive regard at all times. Many of the young women are from backgrounds of trauma, abuse and neglect, and have complex needs.
