SPEECH PATHOLOGIST – New Grad’s are encouraged to apply 

Early Connections – Coffs Coast Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Speech Pathologist to join our Early Childhood Intervention – Trans-Disciplinary Team.
This position can be either full time or part time (open to negotiation).

Early Connections – Coffs Coast is a Children’s Charity not-for-profit community based organisation. Our Program delivers Early Childhood Intervention consisting of Early Childhood Education and Therapy Supports to children with a diagnosed disability or a developmental delay and their families. Our mission is to provide a high quality program, which works in partnership with families and the community to improve each child’s participation in inclusive mainstream environments on the Coffs Coast.

Early Connections – Coffs Coast uses a family-centred approach as we understand how important it is to work in partnership with families. Working in partnerships gives families choice and control about how to support their child’s development. To support this partnership, all client families are allocated a Key Worker who supports and coordinates the team around each child and family. This model is the recommended best-practice approach by the NDIS for children 0-6 years with developmental delays or disability.

  • Supervision from a Senior Speech Pathologist. 
  • Formal supervision per week + informal supervision and support as required. This includes individualised support regarding caseload management, education (e.g. around Key Worker Model & Discipline specific learning), observation, skill development, reflection and evaluation.
  • Caseload and billable hours requirements are tailored to employees skills and capacity (in 1st year of employment).
  • Annual Professional Development & Training schedule including – Circle of Security-Parenting, Client Introduction / Information session, Hanan Key Word Sign, It Takes two to Talk, More Than Words, and other in-house training opportunities.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Relevant Tertiary qualifications.
  2. Commitment to best practice in Early Childhood Intervention, inclusive practice, and the family centred approach to service delivery.
  3. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  4. Ability to work within a team environment.
  5. A fundamental understanding of child development.
  6. Current NSW drivers licence and access to a comprehensively insured motor vehicle.
  7. If successful, the applicant will need to provide a current Working With Children Check number; NDIS Worker Clearance.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Practice experience and knowledge of the research underpinning Early Childhood Intervention and knowledge and skills that underpin family-centred practice.
  2. Experience and working knowledge of NDIS ECI and Early Childhood Intervention Australia Best Practice Guidelines.
  3. Experience in disability or Paediatrics.
  4. Experience working in a community based organisation.
  5. Experience working as a member of a team working with children and families.
  6. Knowledge of WHS principles.
  7. Computer, admin and record / file management skills, Microsoft suite and CRM preferred, but not essential.
