We are looking for a passionate Provisional Psychologist to join our team at newly expanded Early Intervention Therapy centre in Strathpine QLD

Our renowned and unique autism early intervention service has expanded into a bespoke Early Intervention Therapy Centre to offer our exceptional services to more families. With high-level local and national clinical governance and expertise, Early Start Hawthorn offers our Early Start Denver Model programs and transdisciplinary paediatric services. Our client group is predominantly young children identified on the spectrum and their families who we support to meet their developmental goals in a safe, warm, nurturing space. Our team consists of speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, educators, behaviour analysts and early intervention therapists who are all passionate about early play-based interventions.

The Opportunity:

With varied work including assessment, direct intervention and parent support, this is an exciting role for an enthusiastic provisional psychologist. Both internal and external supervision may be provided as well as case consultations and extensive professional development. This role provides a mixed caseload within a morning developmental program and also a general paediatric caseload.

  • Conducting standardised clinical assessments to determine goals/areas of needs.
  • Assess and guide developmental goals for children identified on the autism spectrum or with developmental delay (social, communication, cognition) in both a group and individual settings;
  • Providing information, education and support to clients and families to support informed decision making on priorities for intervention.
  • Administer early intervention therapy following the principles of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and monitor, evaluate and review progress by entering daily data on therapy plan;
  • Developing functional, routine-based goals with clients and families.
  • Providing therapy interventions and resources to clients and families that match evidence based practice to individual/family goals, values and preferences for service provision.
  • Reviewing progress formally in collaboration with individuals and families to celebrate achievement, obtain feedback on services provided and set new priorities..
  • Provide therapy interventions and supports in collaboration with others, particularly within a key worker/transdisciplinary team approach.
  • Providing evidence informed therapy services to clients and NDIS participants building on family/client strengths, needs and priorities.
  • Support inclusion and participation for clients in community activities of their choice.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and ensure ongoing communication, leadership and support are provided to deliver quality services and supports.
  • Ensure a focus on continuous improvement through regular evaluation, training and review.

What do you need to join?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or AASW;
  • Passion for making a difference with a focus on making therapy fun, engaging and meaningful for families!
  • Possess the ability to provide counselling, and offer knowledge of therapeutic interventions, to children, young people and parents who present with issues related to mental health, trauma, behavioural issues, as well as general wellbeing;
  • Experience in completing risk assessments and mental health assessments;
  • Compliance – AHPRA registration, Working with Children Check, National Police Check, NDIS workers screening check, Covid-19 vaccination certificate or exemption, First Aid Training, Driver’s License & Vehicle.
