About The Company

Our client is a specialist family violence service located in Melbourne’s Southern Region. They provide crisis accommodation, temporary housing services and outreach services to women and women with children experiencing family/domestic violence. This position would suit a motivated and passionate individual excited to work in a client-centred environment supporting women and children in need.

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join their organisation in the City of Kingston, VIC.

Reporting to the Therapeutic Services Manager, some of your responsibilities would include:

• Delivering individual therapy to women to support their recovery from family violence.
• Delivering dyadic therapy to Mum’s/Caregivers and children to support their recovery from family violence and strengthen their attachment.
• Working with mothers/caregivers to support them with their parenting.
• Development and facilitation of strengths-based, trauma-informed therapeutic groups for women and dyads who have experienced family violence.
• Working across two main settings including head office and refuge.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Experience:

• Previous experience in the family violence sector working as a Counsellor or Art Therapist
• Strong understanding of trauma and attachment
• Excellent communication/ interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Strong computer literacy with the ability to use MS Office Suite
• Ability to self-motivate and self-manage while working in a dynamic environment

Essential Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification in Arts Therapy, Social Work, Counselling or Psychology
• Recent National Criminal History check;
• Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
• Current Victorian Driver’s License
