Student Wellbeing Specialist – Positive Behaviour Support CIRE SERVICES INCORPORATED

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

Cire Community School is a leader in delivering innovative programs to students from Years 5 to 12 who have disengaged from education. The Community School offers an alternative to mainstream schooling, supporting some of the region’s most vulnerable and marginalised young people.

Unlike a traditional Wellbeing role, our Positive Behaviour Support specialist aims to work proactively rather than reactively.  The role offers a unique opportunity to focus your attention on identifying, recording and interpreting student observations before recommending supports to increase students’ participation and engagement in their learning.  Cire Community School provides a therapeutic environment, ensuring the PBS framework is delivered through a trauma-informed lens.

Working as part of a truly cohesive team, you will collaborate with students, teachers, and learning support professionals to establish strategies that reduce the likelihood of dysregulation. On a day-to-day basis, you will identify and support students requiring assistance with their wellbeing needs; encouraging engagement, providing interventions and referrals, working with external professionals and student support groups, liaising with parents/guardians and providing programs to student groups. Your days will be varied, always active and working with purpose to support the overall wellbeing of Cire students.

This is a secure, permanent, full-time opportunity at our well-established Yarra Junction campus, commencing immediately or in Term 1 2023.

The Perks

At Cire, we know that our employees are our greatest asset. That’s why we offer a competitive salary and benefits package that helps you keep more of your hard-earned money. With salary packaging and novated leasing, you can reduce your taxable income and put more money back in your pocket. And because we’re a not-for-profit organisation, you’ll feel great knowing your work directly benefits some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of benefits that include access to EAP services, discounted childcare, and discounted courses. We also offer ongoing support and mentoring to help you grow in your career. So, if you’re looking for an organisation that values its employees, come join us at Cire.

About you

As an experienced Wellbeing Specialist, you:

  • Hold a qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling, Education, or a related field
  • Have experience working effectively with young people and the ability to build rapport and trust
  • Have a strong understanding of the complexity of adolescent development and the impact of trauma on development and engagement in education
  • Have demonstrated ability to quickly, sensitively and effectively assist with the de-escalation of young people in moments of personal distress
  • Are passionate and skilled in working with students ranging from years 5 to 12 who struggle in mainstream education
  • Are willing to assist students and staff by suggesting any adjustments that may need to occur in order for greater learning and engagement to ensue
  • Have a thorough understanding of Child Safe frameworks and regulations and the ability to apply these effectively
  • Currently hold, or be willing to undertake, certifications including a Working with Children Check, Australian Right to Work Check, and National Police Check

To enjoy Cire’s environment and culture, you will have a community focus, friendly personality and positive attitude. You will demonstrate our Values of Respect, Quality and Integrity. You will enjoy being an integral part of a professional team.
