About Marymead

Marymead is a well-respected, community based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill the position outlined below within our Family and Relationship Services Unit.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHWBU) Unit at Marymead contains several educational and therapeutic programs aimed at transforming the lives of vulnerable children and young people and their families.  The structure consists of two components: Family Counselling and Client Pathways.   New Horizons is an Emotional Wellbeing program within Family Counselling. The aim of the Unit is to support families living across Canberra and surrounding NSW regions through their key life transitions to achieve positive life outcomes.

About the Clinical Outreach Worker Position

The Clinical Outreach Worker involves service delivery and direct client contact in the New Horizons’ program within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit. The role is required on a Full Time or Part Time capacity. As a Clinical Outreach Worker, you will use attachment-informed, strength and relationship based approaches to work with children and young people (CYP) 0-18, and their families. You will provide early intervention to address current difficulties and emerging mental health concerns that may compromise the CYP’s developmental outcomes by working with them and their families to strengthen functioning. The program provides a range of services to children and young people depending on the assessed need including home visiting, counselling, group work, phone counselling and referral to other relevant services.

Qualifications, certifications and security clearances

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, counselling or related fields
  • Working With Vulnerable People Clearance (ACT)
  • NSW Working With Children Check
  • Police check conducted by Marymead
  • Unrestricted Driver’s License

Desirable:

  • Registration as a counsellor, social worker, psychologist or equivalent
  • Family counselling qualification and/or specialised training
  • Circle of Security Parenting training
